Being a self-taught MUA, I have learned so much by just watching YouTube videos. I feel that I have learned more than I would if I went to school for makeup. Do not get it twisted though, being self-taught is definitely as hard. Buying the products, learning the technique, and putting in hours a day to learn is definitely something that takes patience; you will not, I repeat, you will not get it on the first try. With that being said, these are the ladies on YouTube who's videos has helped me come this far today.
TymetheInfamous
If it is something I learned from Tyme, it's definitely her eye makeup technique. She has one of the best eye makeup techniques on YouTube. She loves pink (so do I), and her videos are just fun to watch and learn (she is so bubbly). This particular video is the Nicki Minaj "High School" makeup tutorial (Part 1). This is one of many of my favorite videos she has made; I will link part 2 below. She is currently doing a giveaway so make sure you subscribe to her channel.
NeneTanae
Ms. NeneTanae, Hey Boo! Nene tutorials are LIFE. We are the same skin complexion so I get foundation, conceal, and highlighting tips from her and also what products to use. If you have dark circles then she can teach you her best techniques to use to get rid of them before applying makeup. Her tutorials are very beginner friendly. The video above is my favorite summer look that she recently did. I will link her channel below; it is definitely worth checking out.
MsAaliyahJay
Eveything about MsAaliyahJay's makeup application is FLAWLESS and easy to learn. I started off watching her videos and then I slacked on watching them. However, I am back watching them (playing catch up). One thing I learned from her is how to fill in my eyebrows and what products to use (high end and low end). The video above is recent and actually my favorite. I will link her channel below, check it out.
TheMillionDollarFace
Naomi "TheMllionDollarFace" Lynn is new to YouTube, however, I have been following her on Instagram for a while now. Her makeup application is gorgeous! She always has a finish look that looks so flushed and peachy, which I love. The video above is her very first video as a YouTuber and also my favorite. Love her brows? Well, she also has a bomb eyebrow tutorial. I will leave the link to her channel below.
Queenii Rozenblad
Ms. Queenii is one of my favorite of all time YouTubers. Her looks are so bold and flawless. Her makeup application is more on the advanced side. I go for a bold look every now and then, and when I do her videos are a go-to. The video above is one of my favorites of hers. I love purple on brown skin and this look is BOMB! I will link her channel below, you should check it out.
Nitraa B
Last but certainly not least, Nitraa B. I get all, yes I mean ALL my tips and tricks from her. Her makeup application is always neutral and gorgeous. I go for the neutral look almost everyday, so her videos are a everyday go-to for me. I also started out watching her videos; she was one of the first makeup gurus I subscribed to. The video above is a neutral look ft. my favorite eyeshadow palette "Too Faced Semi-Chocolate Bar". The look she created using that palette is my go-to look. I will link her channel below, definitely check her out.
When I say I have became a great self-taught makeup artist, I mean it. I have put in time, hard work and dedication, and money to become great at what I love to do. Thanks to the ladies that I mentioned above and myself of course (always learn from your own mistakes). I am not the best (by far), but I am damn good. Below is a picture of when I first started vs. now. Look how far I have come; I, along with my parents and other family members, are very proud of me.
