If you are a beginner in makeup, I'm pretty sure you do not have hundreds of dollars to go spend on high-end makeup. If you do, but you do not want to because you are just getting started then I highly suggest you read this post. It contains some of the best drug/beauty store items that are out there. Notice I did not talk about eyebrows; this is because as a beginner eyebrows is not usually something you start off doing perfectly. However, if you want to know some great eyebrow products, contact me in the "makeup questions" tab. Lets get started!

1. Primer
·       Milk of Magnesia (my holy grail): This stuff is my holy grail, what I mean is I cannot do a makeup look without it. A lot of people laugh because it is a laxative, however, I promise if you use this stuff (if you are a very oily skin person) you will not have to worry about being oily again. Even if you are not oily and you want matte skin, this is the best product. Retail: $6.00

·       Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser: I recently discover this product and I must say it is a MUST HAVE. If you have huge pores or even small pores, before putting on makeup and before using “the milk” apply this product. Retail: $6.00

2. Foundation
·       Revlon Color Stay: This is the BEST foundation. I will reach for this before I reach for my MAC foundation. Retail: $11.00

·       Maybelline Fit Me: I use this foundation on my clients and it works perfectly. They have matte and pore less for oily skin or dewy for dry skin. Retail: $5.00

3. Concealer and Eyeshadow Base
·       Maybelline Fit Me: I have not used this concealer; however, there are so many great reviews on it.

·       L.A. Girls Pro Concealer: This is by far my favorite concealer. It blends so perfectly. With both the Maybelline and L.A. Girl concealers, you can use these both as a eyeshadow base to save money and they work just like any base.  Retail $3.00

4. Setting Powder (not foundation) and Setting Spray
·       Maybelline Fit Me Powder: I do not use setting powder, however, this product also has great reviews. Retail: $6.00

·       NYX setting spray: This is the best setting anything there is. It settles so perfectly on skin and completely brings your makeup look together. They have matte finish and dewy finish. Retail: $8.00

5. Blush and highlighter (glowing cheeks)
·       Elf, NYX and Wet n’ Wild all have great blushes/ highlighters. There is really not much I can say about these blushes, but they are a great for a starter kit. Elf Retail: $3.00 NYX Retail: $5.00 Wet n’ Wild Retail: $5.00

6. Mascara and/or Lashes
·       Cover Girl Go Bloom Mascara: the best mascara known to me. If you continue to use this mascara it, your natural lashes will grow full. Retail: $8.00

·       Kiss Lashes and Broadway by Kiss Lashes: If you are like me and you LOVE falsies, then these are the best lashes. I never use higher end lashes simply because there is no need. Retail: $9.00

7. Eyeshadow
·       Maybelline Nudes and Blushed Nudes Palettes: These are the BEST palettes for beginners. They have some really natural colors in them. I find myself going to these palettes first instead of my higher end palette. You also want to use these shadows to set your eyeshadow base (particularly the one that matches your concealer base). Retail: $10.00

·       Too Faces Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette: Now, this is not a beginner friendly palette, however, I think I can make an exception for this. I LOVE this palette. It has the prettiest pigmented colors in it. The color are more natural than bright with 1one or two bright colors. Retail: $50.00

8. Lipstick and Lip liners
·       NYX butter glosses, lipsticks, lip liners and intense butter glosses: When it comes to lipstick, I am VERY picky. The only lipsticks I wear are these ad MAC of course, but this is for beginners so MAC is optional. NYX has the BEST MAC dupes for lip sticks, lip gloss, and lip liners. NYX retail: $5.00 MAC retail: $16.00-$22.00

9. Brushes
·       Amazon, Real Technics, and BH cosmetics: I have a great brush set that I bought from Amazon for $20.99. It is a 32 piece excellent brush set. I will link the product down below. BH cosmetics also have some great brush sets. When it comes to brushes, you cannot be cheap. I would say at least spend $20.00-$40.00 on a good brush set because if not you will forever be buying brushes.

Below is the link to the amazon brushes I purchased (on sale for 17.99)
